Haute Weekend Events Aug 18-20.
It's Thursday it's time to roll through what events are hot for the week's end.
I'm gonna start by saying I was looking for Borders bookstore events online and they have about 20 locations within 30 miles of San Francisco. Their site will only allow me to add SIX stores to my list to check for events. And they really don't have any. Borders just blows. Okay, that's outtadaway.
Metier is a great boutique downtown on Sutter Street that's having a Mayle trunk show Fri 5-8 pm and Sat 10-6 for Mayle. Jane Mayle will be in-store on Friday.
Mezzanine is a stomping ground for the likes of FatBoy Slim, Thievery Corporation, Chemical Brothers- and was the location of the "wrap party" for the San Francisco International Film Festival earlier this year. But this Sat, Aug 19th (10-6), it will host The Boutique Blowout Sample Sale featuring designers like Jill Stuart, Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs, and Chaiken. There is a $3 cover, and must be 21, since they are serving throughout.
Red Vic Moviehouse finally put up their calendar through November 2006. And I'll champion a few picks as worth seeing. I might get there 8/23-24 for a screening of The Da Vinci Code, which I haven't seen yet (I have a signed copy of the book from Dan Brown though). District B13 (Banlieue 13) I have already blogged- but the parkour/freerunning in it is something really cool to see, it is playing Fri/Sat August 25-26.
