Crikey!!!
Wow. I just looked at my webstats for Friday 8/11 and have a new record! 69 unique visitors and 120 page views for this here blog. Previous high was 54 unique visitors and ninety-somethin' page views in one day. Last 3 months each have grown from 250-ish to 300+ to 400+ unique visits in the month of July. I figured August might be 600-ish, but already 250+ thru the 11th. Hmmmm.
I oftentimes hear people comment, "I'd never have time to write a blog," or, "I don't ever read any blogs." Well, to both I offer my simple (following) justifications.
First and foremost, it allows me a great exercise in writing and thinking. Plus, it's like a journal of sorts. Mostly, it's a (selfish) way for me to link tons of things I've found of interest, ya know... My "bookmarks" list in Firefox grows ever too long as it is. So, I blog it, and can always go back to it that way. Useful. Another upside is, that once I really get my act together (think: hades selling sno-cones here), I can always link my work to it, and find useful info on what browsers peeps are using to ensure testing my site(s) on various platforms.
Once I've got the blog process down, it doesn't take long. I've written copy for lots of work stuff in the past, and basically I don't edit much. Just open all the links and cut 'n paste. The longest time spent might be editing a pic in Photoshop CS2 (scaling image size) to publish. But there you have it, the end result: my blog. Such as it is.
And I do hope others may find some of my blog useful, that's a part of it too. Feel free to link to it, comment, or whatever. After all, it is public domain.
Three things I swear I'll never buy again:
- I was at Costco and figured I could use some more coffee. Well, coffee is a big deal to me and I've really enjoyed Spinelli's Original Blend. In fact, I used to have 2 lbs FedEx'ed to me every month in NYC. Since Spinelli sold to Tully's, I think it's not quite as smooth, a bit more acidic, but relatively the same in flavour. Oh, where was I? Right. Costco. I decided to buy a 3-pound bag of San Francisco Bay Organic coffee. If you know about my EcoTwelve business venture, then you know I'd appreciate organic. Ugh! Tastes way too nutty and a pretty "dull" flavour. Back to Spinelli Blend for me.
- I was at Safeway. I thought I got my usual Half and Half for my coffee, tea, and cooking needs. Apparently I got the Fat Free variety instead. Wow. Now there is a contradiction in terms. By definition, "Half and Half" is HALF whole milk and HALF cream (or half Guinness half Harp's, or half champagne half wine). So, figure about 12% fat content. Whaddisdisstuff? Half NONfat ilkmay and half NONfat eamcray? Noway ISay.
- Again, Safeway. I decided I wanted to get some pita and hummus. First, Trader Joe's is where I'd normally get this from (good idea). But I wasn't going to TJ's. Safeway was out of regular pita, so I got the Thomas' Pita Pockets (baaaaaad idea). I knowhatyurthinkin'. There is NO WAY Thomas' knows how to make pita. And you're right. Tasted just like an English Muffin. Uhhhh, but flatter. Haha.
